You would have thought that Obama would have picked the team that was the theme in his presidential run. (but he didn't) UCONN shocks the world again in another barnburner of a final. (if by barnburner you meant you wished you were burning a barn rather then watching the game) Bad game but a great result as Jim Calhoun definitely takes his place as one of the top 5 coaches in the history of the game. My sister knows which of her brothers to trust when it comes to favourite teams and so she benefits with the victory. Good job Lynnette. There is currently one team that is the national champion and it is the Connecticut Huskies.

Terrorists strike again.

Yes the terrorist organization known as P.E.T.A. struck again. Emily McCoy a terrorist from New York City decided to assault Gail Shea who is Canada's Minister of fisheries and oceans. The fact that she assaulted Mrs. Shea with a pie makes her no less of a terrorist. I'm really sick and tired of P.E.T.A. thinking they're making a point by these violent demonstrations. When you watch the video you just feel uncomfortable kind of like you would if someone tripped your grandmother on purpose. So P.E.T.A. proudly claims that they were behind this. That's simply just sad. I think we should try and control these terrorists as much as possible first by closing our borders to all P.E.T.A. members. Then I think we should have a large BBQ. I've never tried seal before but I'm thinking of adding it to my regular diet. Am I against abuse of animals? Yes. Am I against killing animals for their food and skin for clothing? Heck no. God wasn't and I'll take His side.

I am not an Obama supporter, nor would I be a Republican if I were an American because of all the crazy "I'm right therefore everyone else is Hitler" type people but this article made me roll my eyes. Outrage in Washington For those of you that won't read the article here is what happened. During his visit to Japan Obama bowed to the Japanese Emperor. This apparently is just like pooping your pants in the school yard. After doing horrible things like this it is impossible for anyone to respect you.

Quote from the article "I don't know why President Obama thought that was appropriate. Maybe he thought it would play well in Japan. But it's not appropriate for an American president to bow to a foreign one," said conservative pundit William Kristol speaking on the Fox News Sunday program, adding that the gesture bespoke a United States that has become weak and overly-deferential under Obama."

I'm sorry but "get a grip" is Kirk Perry's comment. The U.S. has always had a reputation for being arrogant and things like this reinforce that stereotype. If you don't like the president then don't vote for him next time. If you really don't like him then pray for him and yourself that you'll stop being such a nit-picky poopyhead. STOP looking for things to complain about that aren't there. Instead why not focus on making things better in your country.

An Inconvenient Tooth ™

Well my surgery went well. I only fainted once during the 5 attempts to stick needles in my veins. What I wasn't prepared for was the swelling that showed up a couple days after. One tooth was into the bone on my lower jaw and apparently my body liked having it there. Leading worship yesterday and speaking last night was probably a mistake. Dodge ball and face push ups are probably not a good idea either. Other ideas that aren't good include: Braille on bank machine drive throughs, Country music, Babies own electrical outlet, and Patricia Roy breeding. I want my mouth back. It's where I like to put my food. That's right you guessed it this truly is an inconvenient tooth. ™

Losing wisdom

Well tomorrow morning I will be losing two wisdom teeth which brings me to this question: Who was the idiot that named them "wisdom teeth"? This is what wikipedia says:

"They are called wisdom teeth because they usually come in when a person is between age 17 and 25 or older—old enough to have supposedly gained some wisdom."

By this reasoning baldness should be referred to as a wisdom cap. Wrinkles would be wisdom lines and hemorrhoids would be referred to as having a wise ass. (for those of you offended by the word ass please refer to your King James Bibles for a definition) I've decided to rename them as a result of the obvious lack of thought given the first time. From now on they will be "an inconvenient tooth" ™ Maybe by coming up with "an inconvenient tooth" I can gain a reward like say a Nobel prize or something. Apparently lately they just give those away for not being George Bush. I'm not George Bush. Give me my reward. Obviously this post is jumbled and lacking the clarity of thought of many of my other posts. Hence the title. I'm out.

The Habs are gone. We can all celebrate once again. No more listening to delusional fans who think during the regular season that their team will win the cup and then bail on them before 1 game is played in the playoffs. (for example: Scottie Leighton, Brandon Melanson, Eric Hallett) No more having to see Hab fans embarrass themselves by booing their own team off the ice. No more watching Carey Price wave goodbye to the "fans" with a Patricia Roy salute. (oh wait I liked that) All of us can just sit back, relax and enjoy the playoffs now. Ok I'm going to try to to be more regular again on my blog. I read this article and couldn't help... Actually read it first I'll comment after.

MINNEAPOLIS - During his glory days as a pro wrestler, Verne Gagne shared the spotlight with other burly men in trunks, guys with names like Killer Kowalski, Mad Dog Vachon, The Crusher and Baron Von Raschke.

But all of that seemed well in the past until just weeks ago, when authorities say Gagne, 82 and suffering from Alzheimer's disease, apparently body-slammed a 97-year-old fellow patient at the suburban nursing home where they both lived, causing the man's death.

Bloomington police are investigating, but not even the victim's widow wants to see the dementia-stricken Gagne prosecuted.

"It's been so hard on both families," said Greg Gagne, Gagne's son and a former wrestler himself.

Police said there was no clear indication of what set Gagne off, and neither man could remember the incident afterward. Behaviour and personality changes are common as Alzheimer's progresses, and victims of the mind-robbing disease can become agitated.

Ok first of all. "Neither man could remember the incident afterward" I wonder why that was. One had Alzheimer's and the other was dead.

Fourthly Can you imaging making that call to the man who died' kids. "Uh yes your 97 year old father passed away today. He was body slammed off the cafeteria table by another resident. "

I stumbled on to a site that got shut down five minutes after I got there. What was happening is people were calling Rosetta which sells language CDs and requesting Klingon. The site was amazing as hundreds of people were recording their conversations. I realize this was a wrong thing to do but this was my favourite:

The coalition of the losers is planning on taking power from my Prime Minister without a vote. This is treason. I don't care what they are allowed to do. There is a reason why this is hardly ever done. It is not a good idea!!!! If this goes through I will never again vote for the Liberal, NDP, or Bloq at any level of government. I'm ticked, and those of you that know me well know that I won't back down on this. Not only that but usually I remain quiet during Canadian elections. If this goes through I will be actively campaigning for the Conservatives and even donating to their party. I refuse to recognize Stephanne Moron (admitted hablover) as my Prime Minister. I never thought I'd see the day that I wished I was an American. That's right I'm that upset. This sucks.

It's funny I've been blogging for quite a while now and my rule about not having serious posts ever sometimes stand in the way of me telling everyone how much they don't know. Since obviously I have a plethora of knowledge to share with the world I have determined that this is not very fair. Here is the best advice I could give you today. If you haven't already check out Dave Ramsey I wish I had been following his advice when I graduated high school. It's not a get rich quick thing but it is a how to discipline your life so you can have the opportunity of getting rich thing. "Live like no one el;se so later you can live like no one else" Our church has been teaching Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University on Sunday nights and it is helping a lot of families who are trying to deal with this changing economy. One of Dave's main teaching points is how to get out of and stay out of debt. This has helped Jo and I a lot and we will be debt free except for house related debt by next year. If you've never heard him he has a podcast on itunes that is worth checking out. He's funny, educational, and very entertaining. I enjoy learning about finances. (which is weird) If you've never heard of this the temptation will be to just skip over this post but I really hope you check him out. At least pick up one of his books which will help you get on a plan to win.

So apparently I have become an uncle and as always others are trying to take the credit for this accomplishment that I have achieved. Graham and Rebecca feel like they deserve more credit than me just because they created, carried, and delivered the baby. all I did was be the entire inspiration. i visited them in Newfoundland once and they were with child within a week after I had left. No other members of my immediate family can make that claim. Any ways with permission from his parents here is Nathan Adam Perry (NAP) He weighed in at 9lbs 8 oz (light for a Perry) and was 20.5 inches long. (shorty)

On an aside I really am quite happy for my brother and his wife. This child is literally an answer to prayer. God is good. (better than any other god you can come up with)

Elections-A blog for Scott

So two of my top ten favourite countries are going to be having elections soon and I know most of you are asking WWKVF. (who would Kirk vote for) In the United States where because of some technicality in their voting procedures I am not allowed to vote the answer is easy. Neither candidate is worth your vote. For most that will be funny coming from me since when the primaries had just begun I said if Obama and McCain win I will be confident in whoever the American people choose. Not any more.

As time has gone on it has become obvious to me that Obama will most likely be a terrible president. His ideas of solving everyones problems by over taxing the rich seem good in principle but will only slow the economy down further thus affecting the retirements and livings of people in all tax brackets. The capital gains tax is a joke and Obama wants to double it. When you add state capital gains to that a lot of people will be losing 40% of profits off the top. It becomes difficult to grow and run a business when you have this tax in your companies pocket. This affects hiring, and creation of new jobs and higher paying jobs. Did you know capital gains also affects someone's will? If someone dies, even though they already payed tax on the money they left behind, capital gains taxes it a second time. On top of that, do you really want a guy who has no military experience taking over a war and having the final say on things? I saw a mother pleading for people to vote for McCain so that her son wouldn't be subject to Obama's on the job training while he is in Iraq. I'm now scared of Obama. He has no good answers for the economy.

I at first would have voted for McCain because of experience and I believed he would have had the best opportunity to bring the war in Iraq to an end with the fewest mistakes. Now all I see when I watch him on tv is a desperate man willing to do anything to become president. At first I thought the Sarah Palin move was interesting and potentially the key to winning but now it has become obvious that she is a glorified puppet. When someone else moves her lips she is great but when she moves out on her own she sounds like George Bush. (shudder) (although believe it or not Bush may have been better than Kerry or Gore. scary thought) She just seems incompetent. Obviously she was not McCain's first choice but he bowed to the pressure of his party just as he seems to be doing on a daily basis now. McCain was a Maverick. McCain is no longer a Maverick. I would have voted for maverick McCain in a heartbeat. Now he looks desperate as he tries to tie Obama to terrorists and has begun the traditional "lets scare the american people so they'll vote for us" jargon. It's all really sad.

Here is the answer: on election day everyone write in Stephen Colbert on your ballot as a protest vote. The country is messed either way.

Now to Canada. Harper will win no matter who you vote for. Has he done much good? Not that I have seen. Has he done much bad? Not that I can see. It's been kind of peaceful actually. The Green party might get 1 seat this election, the Bloq is a federal joke (a federal party that only cares about one province) and the Lieberals. (oops) All I know is since the Liberals have been dethroned the petitions against the government have stopped arriving at my church. I like that. Vote how you like. This election it matters little. Harper will get his majority.

Please do vote even if it is in protest.

The 2008 NHL draft is all over and many of you (the 6 who read this blog that care about hockey) are wondering who made the best picks and who won the draft and so on... Lost in all of this was a quiet little pickup that the Carolina Hurricanes made in the fourth round. Here it is:

And with the 105th pick in the fourth round the Carolina Hurricanes would like to pick defenseman Michal Jordan. Come on isn't it bad enough he sucked at baseball and now is trying to suck at a new sport. M. Jordan (most overrated basketball player in history) is now lacing up his skates for hockey. Ok you failed at golf, baseball, come backs in basketball, owning teams in basketball and now hockey. Here is what I see happening: Jordan leaps over the D he goes in to the goal and ohhh nooooo his tongue was stuck out and now it is stuck to the goal post. Sad sad sad.

I totally realize since this Michal Jordan spells his name differently, is only 17, and is from Canada that it could be a different M Jordan but how can we be sure.

Ok, Ok, Ok I've heard the complaints and I will make another post. I'm not killing my blog but I've been busier lately and it has fallen down my priority list. So without any further adieu I present my new ON NOTICE LIST:

I have removed Vegetarians not because they deserve to be removed but because apparently most vegetarians still eat fish so they are a bunch of hypocrites which I respect more then them being people who don't eat fish.

I have removed Croc Wearers because I was given a pair of fake crocs and they didn't suck as bad as as I thought they would. I still wouldn't buy them but if you can buy or steal a pair from a hobo then that is fine.

I have removed Pugs named Clarkson because lately that dog hasn't bothered me at all. I like him the way he is right now. Far away.

So that brings us to our new entrants:

Right handed People - Recently we have been doing some work on our bathroom (well Randy and Wilbur have) and I have been attempting to help a little. I have found that hammers, screw driers, drills and tape measures are all made right handed. At least that is my assumption because of my difficulty using them. Wake up carpenters of the world. We need more left handed tools. (other then Tom Cruise)

Lost haters - Ok you don't understand what's going on. I'm sorry you bunch of whiney babies that for once a television show isn't spoon feeding you the plot. Some of us are tired of the predictability of TV. Remember the episode of 24 where Jack Bauer tortured someone to get information. Remember the episode of American Idol where Simon was nasty. Remember the episode of Full House where one of the girls did something wrong and the music played at the end while they made up. Remember the episode of Three's Company where there was a misunderstanding. Remember the episode of Gilligan's Island where Gilligan messed up a rescue attempt. See you're all a bunch of sheep. Well the NCAA tournament is all over and it is official Hank Styles is the winner. (I was second) Sorry it took so long to update. I blame Andrew Maves for the hate mail he has been putting on the internet about me. Any ways it was obvious from the very beginning that Kansas would win which is why I picked them to win. What were the rest of you thinking?

In hockey the useless Bruins (0 and 9 vs the Habs this year) continue their ineptitude. After this series if the Bruins don't pull it out they will be my second most hated team. If they had just beat Montreal every game this year then Montreal would have missed the playoffs. (seriously how hard is that?)

March Madness Update

Ok here is the situation. If Kansas wins then Hank Styles will be declared the champion of the world. If Memphis wins then my wife Joanna who picked her brackets based on how lazy she thought the people of each city were will win. This just goes to prove that you do not have to be an expert to do your brackets. I happen to know that neither Hank or Jo have watched a single game of NCAA basketball this year. I will do a final standings after Monday night.

(editers note: Jo wanted me to add that her picks were also based on how much shame the teams would feel from their community if they lost. She felt that was important for me to add.

On a sad note. Carolina did not make the playoffs. This ticks me off as Montreal did (thanks to Boston being useless throughout the year) In the last 6 years Montreal has only made the playoffs twice and both times were destroyed by Carolina. (Incidentally Carolina made the finals both of those years)(I do believe they won the Stanley Cup as well) So here is the deal. I need a favourite team for the playoffs. Here will be the criteria:

Is the team playing Montreal?

That's it.

Whoever beats out Montreal will be my team throughout the playoffs and I will break my NHL merchandise purchasing boycott to support that team financially. Hopefully this will inspire those teams to play harder.

I got this article from Paul my cousin. It is sad when Habs resort to stealing women's purses. Some probably think he was doing it for the money but I believe he was doing it because it matched his outfit. Here is the article:

Montreal Canadiens defenceman Ryan O'Byrne and forward Tom Kostopoulos were arrested outside of a Tampa nightclub early Monday morning.

O'Byrne is accused of stealing a women's purse, while Kostopoulos is accused of resisting an officer.

The incident began when a woman notified the bar's security officers that her purse was missing. The security officers noticed O'Byrne holding the purse and the women's cellphone outside the bar.

According to a report in the Tampa Tribune, O'Byrne told the officers that the purse belonged to his girlfriend, but police determined it belonged to the woman.

"Several associates, who were identified as National Hockey League players/members, crowded around the officers and police car," the police report states. "They were told numerous times to get away from the police car and not to interfere."

O'Byrne was charged with grand theft and Kostopoulos was charged with resisting the officers.

O'Byrne's bail was set at $2,000 and Kostopoulos' was set at $500 - both have been released.

I know I'm a couple of days late posting this but wow. That was an amazing Superbowl. We had a party at the school with over 150 people attending and it was a blast. Let me set it straight:I hate New England and the Giants but I had to cheer for the Giants. The Slip and Grip play (those who saw the game know what I'm talking about) where Manning slipped from the grasp of several NE linemen and then the impossible catch falling backwards holding it to his helmet was perhaps the greatest play in Superbowl history. After New York scored their game winning touchdown I lead in the chants of 18 and 1, 18 and 1, 18 and 1. It was just so satisfying knowing that the already written book "19 and 0 the perfect season" would never make the shelves. Also the New Englands attempt to trade mark the phrase 19 and 0 would be for nothing. It is just so wonderful to see overhyped cocky braggarts brought down. (Now we have to keep working on the Hab fans we know. )

I just watched the Canadian CTV movie Sticks and StonesIt is a retelling of the story of how a bunch of Hab Fans abused some American Pee Wee Hockey kids who were visiting Montreal. For those of you that don't remember this, several Hab fans threw rocks and hurled insults at a bus filled with American Pee Wee hockey players making several of them cry. (this is typical Hab fan behaviour) The movie focuses around another player from Fredericton who witnessed some of the abuse these kids were taking and organized a tournament in Fredericton to mend the relationship between our two countries. I've always thought it was great to know that there are Canadians out there that can make up the evil done by Canadiens who are Hab fans. It would be easy for me now to make fun of "the Gay Flower" (Guy Lafleur) and his troubles with the law but I actually feel bad for him. His son has had a lot of trouble with the law (again typical Hab fan behaviour) and he has been caught lying under oath to protect his son. Maybe some more New Brunswickers need to go and help him out. As a Canadian I would just like to apologize to all people out there who have been offended by a Hab fan (all of us) They don't know how obnoxious they are. It's true.

Ron Francis, the most underrated hockey player in history was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame this week. He finished his career with 2 Stanley Cups, 3 Lady Byng Trophies, 1 King Clancey Memorial Trophy and 1 Frank J Selke Trophy. He finished 4th place on the all time points list and second all time in assists behind Wayne Gretzky. With stats like this you would assume the NHL would promote him and fans everywhere would know his name. In his 23 year career he only played in only 4 all star games. (so much for fan balloting) The hockey News didn't even have him listed in their top 100 players of all time. He was quiet didn't get into trouble and spent most of his career in Hartford and Carolina. The NHL lost one of its brightest stars a few years ago and they should be ashamed of how little fanfare there was. What does Ron think? He didn't care. He was too busy doing his off ice charity work and volunteering with the special olympics. I'll miss you Ron. Best leader ever!!!!!

Something very significant is happening to me in one month. This is something that I've been waiting for, for a long time. A man dreams of this day and before you know it (actually in a month) it is here. Of course this amazing day would be impossible without family and friends. I'm very pleased that many of my Brockville friends are coming. Without that I would feel like this day would be less then it could have been. I feel like the vibe will be incredible on that day. I know I feel like a winner now but after that day I am sure I will be a winner again. The day in question of course is November 30th. (the day before my wedding) I am going to be mopping the floor in yet another Euchre tournament at my bachelor party. I'm so excited I feel like I might pee my pants.

Kirk's Top 9 Best Reality Shows

The list isn't very long because I think most reality shows are ridiculous. I still watch many of them so I guess in some ways I am a hypocrite. Here are the top 9

#6 The News Just not the really biased American news like CNN or Fox News. Only the real news like the Colbert Report for me.
#5 Survivor - Ok I know they eat sandwiches and sit in hot tubs when the camera isn't on them but I do find the show fun to watch. It's always fun trying to guess which one is the Christian and which one is the gay guy. Rudy from the very first Survivor made me a fan.
#4 The Amazing Race - I find the show exciting and interesting. When I was in Heathrow Airport I put the theme song on my ipod and ran around the airport. Good Times. It is an informative show and you get to see people's true nature. Boston Rob leaving the accident victims on the side of the road showed us what a jerk he was.
#3 Big Brother - Ok I know I'll get flack for this one but I really like it. I would love to be on a show like that. Hanging out for 3 months playing Euchre and playing games is like the best life I can imagine. Plus I love slop and Peanut butter and jelly so I would be all set.
# 2 The Mole - This was an amazing show. It tested the intellect of the competitors and the viewers. Clues as to who the mole was were given to the viewers each week if you could find them. One of the best shows ever...
#1 The Joe Schmo Show - This as a reality show that made fun of reality shows. Only one guy didn't know everything was fake and everyone else on the show was an actor. So funny. The episode where everyone had to eat something gross so everyone would get a flat screen TV was great. All the actors were actually eating real food but when it was Joe Schmo's turn they put real dog feces in front of him. He chose to not eat the poop. It made me titter. #9 Beauty and the Geek - I really don't even get this show. Let's put these social rejects in socially awkward situations with loose women. Oh now I get it.
#8 The Biggest Loser - Days of Our Lives, Sammy dead pans a show I assumed was about the American Idol show watchers. Instead if you don't lose weight fast enough you get kicked out and have to deal with rejection and obesity. Nice.
#7 I'm a Celebrity:Get Me Out of Here - D list celebrities forced to live in the jungle until they yell out the name of the show. This show would have been better if they put them in a lion's den instead of the jungle.
#6 Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll - One of the most blatant band publicity stunts ever.
#5 America's Next Top Model - Finally a show the encourages people to be anorexic.
#4 Married By America - America votes on who you should marry. The only reason this show wasn't number 2 is the fact that the guy left the girl at the altar in the last show. It made me giggle.
#3 Temptation Island - The best way to know if he is the one for you is to get him to hang out with a bunch of scantily clad women who are constantly flirting with him and see if he resists the temptation. They should try this same concept for alcoholics and see if it catches on.
#2 Are You Hot? - The lasting image of this show for me is of Lorenzo Lamas using a laser pointer to point out little deposits of cellulite on people's butts. This was a low point in television history.
#1 American Idol - This show is not about finding America's top talent. The selection process if you know how they do it is proof of that. Only a handful of people in each of the cities gets a shot at auditioning. Simon Cowell often says this is a singing competition but most "ugly" contestants never get to the audition no matter how good they sound. People are sucked in to this world of Idol worship. Who will America bow down and worship next? The judges are a guy with an 11 word vocabulary (most of them are derivatives of the word dawg) a drug addict, and a nasty judgmental man in black. Worst show ever!!!!

Well I sliced my finger open last night with a spoon. Here is what happened. We were playing the game spoons and I reached and grabbed a spoon by the rounded cup shaped part. Unfortunately for me Scottie Leighton grabbed the handle and yanked on it. I was squeezing my end very hard and continued to as it slid through my finger. The dull edge of the spoon cut a path through several layers of my skin until it was free from my hand and totally within the grasp of Scottie's hand. I noticed a sharp pain on my finger and the drops of blood that were falling on the table immediately. Of course Scott Ingalls camp was not equipped with even a standard first aid kit and so Jo rushed to bandage me up with what was available: paper towel and duct tape. I got a little light headed. ('cause I thought I saw some of the bone in my finger and I didn't want to deal with needles for freezing or for stitching) Everyone wanted me to go to the hospital but I refused to go because let's face it I was not going to walk into the hospital with a cut and have them say how did this happen? I cut myself with a spoon.

I am a Bears fan no matter how well they play. Last year was amazing and this year so far.....not so much. The one bright and shining star for the Bears is Devin Hester, their kick returner. This is only his second season and it is already not to early to say he is the best returner of all time in the NFL. In 88 attempts in his career he has run back 9 for touchdowns (NFL record) and that doesn't even count his Superbowl return for a touchdown. Anyways even non sports fans will appreciate this video of Devin while he was still in college. Simply amazing.

This is what everyone will be talking about over the next few months. I called this at least 6 months ago and am excited that my favourite neighbours to the immediate south of us are finally running a decent candidate. Only days before he officially tipped his hat into the ring he had this to say "I am not ready to announce yet -- even though it's clear that the voters are desperate for a white, male, middle-aged, Jesus-trumpeting alternative." All of this excitement fills me with great hope that wrist awareness will continue to spread and with the platform of president of the United States the world may one day be safe from wrist injuries. I wonder if there will be a surge of residents moving back to South Carolina (the only state he is officially running in) One thing is for sure. The youth vote will be represented for once in America's history.

Voice Rest

I went to the doctor today and was told I needed to rest my voice. No singing and very little talking. I'm trying to figure out whether or not I can mime an entire sermon. it is kind of weird for me as I'm used to singing on average 68 times a day. Even last Saturday during our contemporary service, (expertly lead by Dan Boyd) I couldn't resist singing throughout the service even though every time I swallowed it hurt. Maybe my silence will mean more time for me to blog. Maybe this will mean I will have a shot at blogger of the month at Matt's blog. One can only dream.

Ok it is official I am on the band wagon. My favourite tv show and only show that I watch live is The Office. Unlike most people though my favourite character is not Dwight. The Jim, Pam plot is the most boring part to me, and I see nothing wrong with how Michael leads. My favourite character is actually Creed. At times he may seem a little inappropriate but I laugh out loud after pretty much everything he says and does. Here are a few examples:

Karen: You can’t give paper clips to a baby. He might swallow them.
Creed: Oh it’s ok, I’ve got tons of them.

Creed: [Walks into the office as everyone stares at Michael's poop smelling carpet] ... Hey guys, somebody making soup?

Lately I've been just so aware of my wrist and I owe it all to Stephen Colbert and his Wriststrong bracelets. I believe his campaign to promote wrist awareness has probably saved me from wrist injury at least twice. During the day I'll look down and see the bracelet and then say to myself "I have a wrist". It has been very comforting. One of the rules of owning one of these bracelets is if you meet someone who is more famous then you, then you have to give them your bracelet. The idea behind this is eventually all the famous people in the world will have them and Wrist neglect will become a thing of the past. I salute this effort. (I wouldn't be able to salute without my wrist) and applaud the greatness of this campaign. (again impossible without my wrists.)

Unfortunately none of them ever visit my blog and so it has all been a waste of time. So I'm going to make it official: I'm shutting down my blog for at least a couple of days. Kirk Lost Part 2

I went on a hike starting after church last Sunday night. Tim and Holly, Scott, Scottie and Theron all came with me. Since we waited till after church we only had about an hour before it got dark so we made it just past hay point and set up camp. Scott and Theron had to be back the next day for work at 1:00 and Tim, Holly, and I were going to a funeral at 1:30 the next day so before we went to bed we discussed whether we could make it all the way to dark harbour and get out in time or not. 2 years before I had done the whole hike in a 6 hour span and so I knew I could make if I left by 7 the next morning. The others all decided to back out (SBOI, TBOB, HBOB, SBOL, TBOI) so I set out the next morning on my own. I went for about 2 hours with no problem and came to a place about 1 KM from Little Dark where the trail is unmarked. I needed to go either left or right on the "cheese grader" (4 wheeler) path. I chose right which was wrong and I realized that about an hour later when I hadn't come to Little Dark. I remembered then that the last time I was there I had gone left and about 50 yards later there was a red trail marker. So I had a decision to make;keep going or retrace my steps. I knew if I went back I would probably miss the funeral so I kept going. The trail came out on a dirt road which I guessed might be the Crabbe road. (it wasn't) I found out later it was the pulp road so I ended up walking the wrong way on this road to the end where it just stops. Rather than turn around (which I should have) I started following another "cheese grader" (4 wheeler) trail from there and after wading through much mud I finally came out at a cottage which looked familiar to me. I thought maybe I'm on Miller's Pond (I wasn't) I remembered the camp from a previous hike and I had done a circle and was back at Dweeley pond. (AKA Big Pond) The good part about that is I knew there was a trail from there that connected up with the red trail which was the one I had started the day on. I got to the red trail and again had to make a decision; go to Dark Harbour or go back to the Southern Head Lighthouse. I remembered there was a trail about a half hour back which had had a sign pointing to Seal Cove so I went there. I had never been on this trail before and initially it was well marked. Then I came to a place where I had 4 options and no signs to tell me which way to go. I chose right again. This trail was long and I kept praying that I wasn't just heading deeper into the woods because I knew if I did collapse I wasn't even close to any place people would be looking for me. After about an hour of walking on this trail I ended up at the end of King Street in Seal Cove. I walked down to Rte 776 and crashed at Scott and Theron's place. From there I got someone to pick me up. All toll close to 7 hours of walking with a pack that day without taking a rest. (my legs are a little sore) I didn't want to take a break because at first I was hoping to make the funeral and later I wanted to just keep going. Resting seemed useless. I prayed a lot on that last road and I do thank God that I made it out safe. I've learned a lot this trip. More specifically go left not right.

I have been a slogger lately but I do not apologize as I have checked around the blog world and have found that with this post I am still ahead of most. What I do want to focus on is the fact that I am now the only unmarried pastor on Grand Manan. Tim and Holly are now officially together. I must say I am very happy for them. Henri Nouwen would be very happy. A lot has happened since I last blogged. Zion Hill was amazing this year. I am going to try and have the "office space" videos done by the weekend. These videos were done by each team at the camp. They were given a piece of office equipment and a video camera and were told to destroy it. (not the camera) I must put a shout out to Tara Smith of Tara's Trivia Triad fame who added a lot to the dance element of the camp this year. Simply the best camp in the world. That's all for now. I did finish another parody at the camp and will record it as soon as my cold is gone.

I found a site that excites me greatly. Click here to see This site will enable me to buy single Karaoke tracks for 2.99. The best part is I can choose to buy them without background vocals making it easier for me to make my parodies. In the past I've sometimes had to double and triple my voice in the recordings to drown out the background vocals. I've bought two new tracks that I'd like to use. I've got a different one in the works and a trip to Zion Hill usually means a new parody for me. So hopefully some new music soon. We watched Of Mice and Men last night and I had forgotten how good it really was. John Malkovich is amazing in it. He makes people cry that watch it. I love the movie. 2 dogs die.

My Mosh Post

I enjoy moshing. I had opportunity to think about this phenomenon at Creation this past year and this is what i came up with:
There are many kinds of moshers. Read through these and figure out where you belong.

Extreme Moshers: These are the true breed. You find them forming moshing circles somewhere in the crowd at concerts. One by one these people throw their bodies into the circle and let loose allowing their bodies to be smashed repeatedly until they eventually fall out of the circle. I tried this once and after knocking several people to the ground I determined that it was not safe for me to ever be in this category.

Close Proximity Moshers: These are the people that try and let loose while they are packed in like sardines in the middle of a mosh pit. Another name for some of these people is "jerk moshers" They tend to be jerks but not necessarily. Jerk Moshers are the ones that try to push the crowd over or purposely try to include other non close proximity moshers in their reindeer games. I am a close proximity mosher a lot but I try to avoid the "jerk" tendancies.

Prop Moshers: These are people that bring things into the pit for the enjoyment of everyone. I like moshing while wearing my tellatubby hats. Other props I've seen include inflatable lobsters, beach balls, mascot heads, dismembered stuffed animals, glow sticks, wooden legs, 6 feet tall cereal boxes, and pudding.

Pansy Moshers: These are the people who are the up and down type. No side to side. They also tend to get upset when they end up getting shoved from side to side. These people need to realize they are in a mosh pit and they belong on the fringe of the pit. I like pansy moshers that don't mind being shoved a bit and actually like having them around me in the pit. It makes for a comfortable and fun experience.

Tarp Moshers: These people prefer moshing only with people they know so they get in their group and mosh together usually in a designated area like a tarp. This is a safe way to get into moshing but for me some of the best parts of the mosh experience are meeting new people and making them laugh.

Tarp People: These are the people that will never experience the joy of moshing because they can't get over the sweat, smells and violence of a good pit. They tend to sit in chairs on tarps or jump up and down by themselves. There is nothing wrong with this if you are 65 or older, pregnant or just a wuss.

A good mosh pit is a place where everyone is having fun. The long waits between concerts become times for these people to bond. The longer the wait the better. My sure fire line that gets people on my side in the pit is to wait until I'm pressed by people on every side and then I scream "somebody's touching me" This always gets a laugh. Chanting Zed Zed Top also gets people going. When I'm in the U.S. I enjoy controlling the pit by starting the American National Anthem and knowing that I caused a thousand people to spontaneously start singing. Also regaling people with stories of my sled dog "Licky" that got his tongue stuck to a flag pole and I had to pull on him for 15 minutes before the tongue snapped off tends to get the attention of the pit. Good Times.

Ok I'm back and the just for Matt I'm going to try and not "suck" when it comes to posting on my blog. I begin this new era of blogging with a recent true story from Beulah camp last week. My job at Beulah is to work in the kitchen and the last meal Sunday night I found myself doing the last of the cutlery. I was standing in the kitchen and reaching through a window towards the plastic container that was holding the silverware. (the container was full of hot water and javex to allow these utensils to soak) As I was reaching into the water someone thew in another fork so I readjusted my grip and attempted to pick up the fork as well. Suddenly I felt the pain of a slap as a person who I could not see slapped my hand. Instinctively I grabbed the hand and pulled it down into the dirty water and Javex and held the hand there for several moments. A struggle ensued and finally I relented and let the hand go. At that moment the unknown attacker walked around to where I could see her and I stood face to face with the musical guest for that evening's service: Allison Durham Speers. (no relation to Brittany) If you don't know who she is she is a regular on the Gaither videos and has performed concerts at Beulah camp a couple of times before. Realizing I had been forcibly holding hands with her in dirty dish water I said the first thing that came to my mind. "I thought you were trying to steal my fork" She giggled and all was well.

The moral of this story: When you decide to hold hands with someone it is a good idea to know who they are first. That way you can know whether to keep holding on or know when to stab them with a fork.

I'm going to be at Beulah for the next week but when i get back I am going to turn up the notch on the quality of my posts. I've just recently decided that I'm not going to use any of my creativity on facebook as it is responsible for tearing a lot of people away from the blog world. (and I couldn't get 25000 people to join my group so I no longer see a point for the existence of facebook) I've had a few ideas recently. In the future I'm going to do a post on the different kinds of moshers. I think I may do a new feature called "Kirk intentionally misinterprets scripture" and I am 2 thirds of the way done in my quest to write a new parody. Blog readers don't fall into the mindless boring trap of the facebook. Myspace users I just pity you. Any Ways I'll post when I get back. Creation was nifty.

Last summer I picked two songs to be my official summer songs namely "Streamline" by Newton and "Everytime We Touch" by Cascada. I already have a front runner for this summer. This musical masterpiece actually is similar to the Cascada song from last year. It is by Kim Sozzi and is entitled "Break Up". Now before any of you jump to conclusions about what this song is about, (It is not a nasty break up song) here is the main theme of the song:

I noticed it has been a while since I posted and after looking around a bit I noticed I'm not the only slogger lately. For me it has nothing to do with facebook as I haven't been on that all week either. I think it has to do more with the weather. I find myself not wanting to spend time inside which keeps me away from my computer. I think one of the computer companies should invent a more portable computer that you can carry around with you. It could be something you could put on top of your lap when sitting. If they would just invent this then people could blog wherever they are. They could even provide places where you could get internet over the air (kind of a spot where the internet was hot) and people could blog from coffee shops and libraries. Remember you heard it here first. Well that's all for now I'm working on another invention. It is a device that will enable people to carry their music with them wherever they go. I'm having problems with the record needles.

The Carolina Hurricanes are no longer the Stanley Cup champions. Let's all take a moment of silence.

Now the good news. Two more former Hartford Whalers have now held the Stanley cup over their heads. Congrats to Chris Pronger whose desire to leave Hartford brought ultimately Rod Brind'Amour to the team. Also congrats to Jean Sebastien Giguere who Hartford never really gave a chance to play (played 8 games) but he was traded for Gary Roberts who was pretty good. Any ways I know all of you wanted to know how many Whalers had won the cup this year so once again I am at your service.

Who would have figured Ottawa to choke when the Leafs weren't even in the playoffs.

Solving the World's Problems

The following is based on a conversation I had recently. It may or may not represent what I believe.

I was eating with 3 other people recently when one of the girls said "If I ever get married you won't catch me submitting" This reasoning is what followed: In many Arabic countries women are forced under penalty of death to submit to their husbands. In those same countries the divorce rate is close to 0 even though the man still has the option to divorce his wife if he wishes. Therefore the reason the divorce rate is so high in North America is because we let women make decisions. If women were never allowed to make decisions think how much better this world would be. No more Rosie O'Donnel. No more Oprah. No more fighting about not showing feelings. No more women in Politics. (Hillary Clinton, Alexa McDonough gone) With women forced out of the workplace there would be lots of jobs for everyone else. Since they would obviously be forced to raise their children at home those kids would grow up with their mother rather than with strangers which would reduce depression, crime, unwanted pregnancies, and drug use in kids. This in turn would help the government save money on the prison system and medicare. With that extra money we could pay off our debt and feed our poor and eventually the world's poor.

So if women were willing to submit we could solve world hunger but nooooo you had to fight for your right to vote. So selfish. Women submit to your husbands so we can save this society.
